About the Flag
The origins of the flag of England can be traced back to the Crusades, in which many Christian nations would use a cross as a symbol to show their link to Christianity, which also uses a cross as its symbol. In 1188, the red cross was used by Philip II of France during the Crusades and Henry II of England used a white cross, but at some point the English forces stopped using a white cross and started using a red cross instead.
